FREELAND, Mich. - Giavanna Paradiso, a junior on the Saint Mary's basketball team, has been named as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for her efforts leading up to December 15.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Paradiso averaged 21.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game while shooting 59.3 percent from the floor as the Belles posted a 1-1 record last week. The team co-captain made 11 of her 14 shots (78.6 percent), including a 2-of-2 effort from three-point range, on her way to a game-high 27 points in a key conference win at Adrian on Saturday.

It is the second MIAA Player of the Week honor of her career and the first of her junior season.
