Belles Win Cross Town Rivalry

PLYMOUTH, Ind. - The Saint Mary's golf team posted the program's best-ever 18-hole score in August with a 306 to win the Cross Town Rivalry by nine strokes.

The Belles (624) edged out Bethel's two-day score of 633 after the Pilots carded a 308 on Saturday at Swan Lake Resort. Holy Cross had a 364 on Saturday and finished with a two-day total of 720. IUSB had a 375 on Saturday and finished the tournament with a total score of 767.

Hunter Kehoe was the overall tournament medalist after a 77 on Saturday gave the sophomore a two-day score of 153. Kehoe did not have a score worse than a double bogey on any hole on Saturday while collecting 12 pars and a birdie. She finished the tournament with 21 pars and four birdies. Classmate Summer Stillson tied for the best Saint Mary's score of the day with a 76 and finished one stroke behind Kehoe for second place overall (154). Stillson had 13 pars on Saturday and was one-over on the back nine. She led the field in par four scoring for the tournament and had a two-day best 24 pars on the weekend.

Taylor Kehoe matched Stillson's 76 on day two and finished fourth overall with a 157 for the event. The senior was even-par on the front nine on Saturday and ended the day with 12 pars. Kehoe finished the tournament with 22 pars and was one-over par in par five scoring for the 36 holes of play. Sydney Hruskoci wrapped up the team's 306 after carding a 77 on Saturday as the freshman finished tied for sixth with a 161 for the weekend. Hruskoci led the field in par three scoring with an even 3.00 average for the weekend while posting 20 pars while officially turning in 12 pars on day two. Lauren Read was the fifth golfer in the Belles' scoring lineup and shot an 83 on day two to finish tenth overall with a 166 after 36 holes of play. The junior finished tied for third in par three scoring for the event and had 14 pars and two birdies on the weekend.

Hannah Finley and Maggie Sexton each competed as individuals at the tournament. Finley posted an 86 on day two and finished 11th overall with a 172 for the weekend. The freshman carded three birdies on the weekend while adding 13 pars. Sexton shot an 88 on day two and finished in a tie for 15th place overall with a final score of 178. She did not have a score above a double bogey on Saturday, and she tallied 11 pars combined in the two rounds of play.

The Belles are back in action next weekend when they travel to Wisconsin for the Carthage Shootout on the Border, which takes place at Bristol Oaks Country Club on August 31 and September 1.
