Belles Hold Share of Eleventh Entering Final Day at Jekyll Island

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The No. 16 Saint Mary's golf team shot a 331 and are tied for eleventh place heading into the final day of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational.
 
No. 7 New York University continues to lead the field of 21 teams after a 306 on Saturday gives the them a two-day total of 606. No. 14 Carnegie Mellon held steady in second (609) while No. 12 Methodist remained in third place (612) after two rounds. No. 5 Rhodes is in fourth place with a 623.
 
Centre's Bailey Plourde and New York University's Navika Kuchakulla had the lowest rounds of the day with 71s. Kuchakulla leads the tournament individually with a combined score of 145 after 36 holes of play.
 
Taylor Kehoe led the Belles with an 80 on Saturday and has a two-day score of 165 for a share of 55th place individually. The senior co-captain had a one-bounce eagle from 120 yards out from the fairway on the par-four 18th hole. She added two birdies on the front nine on her way to a three-over final stretch of play as the Belles teed off from the tenth hole. Summer Stillson posted an 83 and is tied for 27th overall with a combined score of 158. Stillson was three-over on the back nine - including a birdie on the par-four 13th hole - and closed out her round with a birdie on the ninth hole.
 
Sydney Hruskoci and Lauren Read each carded rounds of 84 for the team scored of 331. Hruskoci was three-over on the back nine with a birdie on the par-three 12th hole and added another birdie on the par-five third hole. She has a two-day score of 166 and is tied for 61st. Read had nine pars on the day, including four on her final five holes, and did not have a score higher than a double bogey. The junior co-captain has a cumulative score of 168 and is tied for 67th.
 
Hunter Kehoe shot an 86 and is tied for 48th in the field of 119 golfers. The sophomore was four-over on the back nine and sunk a birdie on the par-five 17th hole. She added nine pars in the round.
 
Maggie Sexton and Hannah Finley are each competing as individuals at the tournament. Sexton shot an 85 on Saturday and is tied for 73rd overall after shooting an 85 yesterday. She had a birdie on the par-three 12th hole and a birdie on the par-five third hole. Finley had six pars on her way to an 88 and is tied for 81st with a cumulative score of 173.
 
The final round of the three-day event begins on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. at the Indian Mound Golf Course at the Jekyll Island Golf Club.
