JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The No. 16 Saint Mary's golf team finished in eleventh place in a field of 21 teams at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on Sunday.

 

No. 14 Carnegie Mellon moved past No. 7 New York University to claim the team title after a 303 on the final day gave the Tartans a three-day score of 912. No. 12 Methodist finished in second place with 918 while NYU placed third with 925. The Belles finished eleven strokes behind tenth-place Southwestern with a three-day score of 985 after a 336 on Sunday.

 

Navika Kuchakulla from New York University won the individual title after Sunday's 75 gave her a three-day score of 220. The sophomore edged out Methodist's Morgan Bowen (222) and Centre's Bailey Plourde (224) for tournament medalist honors.

 

Hunter Kehoe led the Belles in a rainy and chilly round with a 79 on Sunday. The sophomore opened her round with a birdie on the par-four first hole and was two-over on the front nine. She carded ten pars and did not post a score above a double bogey. She was the team's highest finisher with a three-day score of 242 to tie for 34th in the field of 119 golfers. Taylor Kehoe shot an 83 on the final day of play and finished tied for 51st with a 248 at the tournament. The senior had a team-best two-over par score on the back nine, which included an up-and-down on the 13th hole for one of her seven pars over the final nine holes of play.

 

Summer Stillson shot an 86 over the final 18 holes of play and finished with a share of 39th place with a 244 on the weekend. She posted eight pars on the day, including a stretch of four consecutive pars from the 11th through the 14th holes. Sydney Hruskoci rounded out the team score with an 88 and was tied for 68th with a 254. She was five-over on the front nine and ended the day with eight pars.

 

Lauren Read shot a 90 on Sunday and finished tied for 76th with a 258 over three rounds of competition. She had a pair of pars on the front nine and added three on the back nine.

 

Hannah Finley and Maggie Sexton competed as individuals at the tournament. Finley shot an 86 in her final round and ended with a share of 80th for the weekend with a 259. She carded eight pars and wrapped up her round with back-to-back pars. Sexton carded a 91 on Sunday and was tied for 84th overall with a 261. She did not have a score above a double bogey and shot four pars.

 

The Belles return to competition on Saturday and Sunday, March 30 and 31 at the Alice Lloyd College Spring Invitational in Kentucky.
