Belles Finish Fourteenth at NCAA Championship

HOUSTON, Texas - The Saint Mary's golf team carded a 331 and finished in fourteenth place at the 2019 NCAA Division III Championships at Bay Oaks Country Club.
 
The Belles finished the tournament with a four-day score of 1304, which matches the best four-day total at an NCAA Championship Tournament by the Saint Mary's golf team in program history (also 1304 in 2012).
 
New York University had the best round of the entire tournament with a 294 on Friday to move past Williams College for the team title. NYU (1217) finished five strokes ahead of Williams (1222) for the championship while Methodist University placed third (1232).
 
Individually, Cordelia Chan from Williams College posted an even-par round to capture the national title by one stroke (296). New York University's Arshia Mahant recorded the best 18-hole score of the tournament on Friday with a 69 but ended the event with a four-day score of 297 for second place.
 
Hunter Kehoe and Summer Stillson led the way for the Belles on Friday with matching scores of 80. Kehoe finished the tournament in a tie for 37th place with a four-day total of 316. She was two-over on the front nine, had ten pars on the day, and circled a birdie on the par five No. 7 hole. Kehoe finished one-over in par five scoring for the tournament, which tied her for the fifth-best scoring average on par five holes.
 
Stillson concluded the tournament tied for 62nd overall with a final total of 326. She had a team-best one-over performance on the front nine, added nine pars overall, and had birdies on the par four No. 4 and par five No. 16 holes. Stillson was two-over on par five holes for the tournament, tying her for the 18th-best scoring average on par five holes. She also was among the top 21 golfers in total birdies with seven.
 
Hannah Finley turned in an 85 in the final round and placed 75th overall with a four-day score of 344. The freshman posted eight pars on the day and was five-over on the front nine.
 
Sydney Hruskoci shot an 86 on Friday to wrap up the team score and finished in a tie for 58th overall with a 322. She had a team-high eleven pars in the final round and was three-over on the front nine, which included five consecutive pars to end the day.
 
Maggie Sexton shot an 88 in her final round and placed 80th overall with a 352 for the tournament. She opened her round with a birdie on par four No. 10 and had six pars for the day.
 

The 2019 NCAA Championship appearance was the ninth in program history for the Saint Mary's golf team.
