ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The No. 16 Saint Mary's golf team shot a 333 and is tied for ninth in a field of several nationally-ranked programs at the Washington University in St. Louis Invitational.

 

No. 1 ranked Carlton leads the 15-team field after a 304 on Saturday at Tapawingo National Golf Club. Fourth-ranked DePauw sits second (311) while Carthage holds third place (317). No. 10 Washington University (320), No. 21 Gustavus Adolphus (322), Wisconsin Whitewater (322), and third-ranked Grinnell (324) round out the top seven. The Belles are tied with No. 24 Illinois Wesleyan for eighth place as 16 strokes separate the third through ninth place.

 

Maria Zrodowska from NAIA member William Woods led the field with an even-par 72 on Saturday.

 

Hunter Kehoe led Saint Mary's with a four-over par 76 on day one and is tied for seventh overall. The sophomore had an eagle on the par-five fifth hole shortly after posting a birdie on the par-four second hole for a one-under 36 on the front nine. Kehoe collected 11 pars on the day and had the third-lowest par five scoring on the day. Taylor Kehoe shot an 83 and holds a share of 36th place overall. The senior was one-over on the back nine and had birdies on the par-three eighth hole and the par-four tenth hole. She was tied for the third-lowest scoring on par three holes in the round.

 

Summer Stillson shot an 85 and is tied for 48th in a field of 84 golfers after day one. Stillson had seven pars and did not post a score above a double bogey in the round. Lauren Read and Maggie Sexton both carded scores of 89 and are tied for 61st individually. Read tallied nine pars, and Sexton registered six pars.

 

Hannah Finley posted the best score of her young collegiate career as the freshman shot a six-over par 78 and is tied for 14th while competing as an individual. She was two-over on the back nine, which included a birdie on the par-four 13th hole. She did not post a score above a bogey and had ten pars with an even-scoring average on par five holes.

 

Round two of the WashU Invitational begins at 10:00 a.m. CDT on Sunday.
