ALBION, Mich. - The Saint Mary's soccer team fell in a rainy 3-0 final at Albion on Wednesday evening.

The two sides fought for possession throughout much of the first half of play. Kaitlyn Day had some pressure up the right flank early in the first half, and Jillian Bowen provided a push along the left side of the field midway through the period. The Belles, however, were unable to capitalize on their possessions in the offensive third of the field. Kara Stacey collected a save on the Brits' first shot on goal of the game in the 28th minute of action. Albion broke through with a goal in the 37th minute, and the Brits added a second goal off of a corner kick in the 44th minute to hold a 2-0 advantage at the half.

The second half was very evenly contested as the rain continued to pour down in sheets. Stacey added another save early in the half. Five minutes later, Lindsey Adent had a shot blocked at the other end of the field. Saint Mary's earned a corner kick in the 64th minute as the Belles continued to build possession in their offensive end of play, but the set piece opportunity was unable to yield a scoring chance. Kaitlyn Day fired a shot from the top of the box in the 72nd minute only to see the effort tail wide left. Albion countered a short while later and scored their third goal of the contest in the 87th minute for the 3-0 final.

Lindsey Adent and Kaitlyn Day each had a shot for Saint Mary's in the contest. Kara Stacey posted four saves in goal.

The Belles (0-9-3, 0-4 MIAA) return home to host Kalamazoo on Saturday at noon. The four senior members of the team will be recognized at the contest.
