FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Saint Mary's tennis team opened the spring portion of their schedule with a commanding 9-0 win against the University of Saint Francis at the Wildwood Raquet Club on Sunday.
Gulli and Preister then clinched the team win quickly in singles action. Gulli took a 6-1, 6-1 victory at five singles, and Preister did not drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 six singles decision.
Meredith Heckert also posted an unblemished win at four singles with a 6-0, 6-0 final. Chamberlin took a straight-set 6-2, 6-2 win at three singles.
Megan Davy won a 6-1, 6-3 match at two singles.
Monica Davy fought off a comeback-minded opponent at one singles as the senior prevailed 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) for the 9-0 team win.
The Belles (3-0) are back in action on Saturday, February 23 when they host both Aquinas and Spring Arbor at Eastlake Athletic Club in Elkhart.
