SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Saint Mary's tennis team fell in a 9-0 final against No. 11 ranked Trinity (Texas) on Monday afternoon.
The nationally-ranked Tigers, who have not lost to a Division III opponent thus far during the 2018-19 year, gained an early lead and carried that momentum on throughout the entire match. Lily Brand and
Nicole Becker fell by an 8-0 score at three doubles.
Meredith Heckert and
Lilly Chamberlin shouldered an 8-0 setback at two doubles, and
Monica Davy and
Megan Davy were stopped 8-0 at one doubles.
Lilly Chamberlin and
Meredith Heckert both fell by 6-0, 6-0 scores at five and one singles, respectively, as the Tigers clinched the team win.
Alyssa Gulli had a 6-0, 6-0 setback at four singles.
Elizabeth Preister picked up a game win in her opening set but was halted 6-1, 6-0 at six singles. Similarly,
Monica Davy won a game in her first set but was stopped in a 6-1, 6-0 final at two singles.
Megan Davy earned a game win in her second set in a 6-0, 6-1 final at three singles to close out the match.
The Belles (6-3) are back to competition on Thursday, March 14 when they face off against Connecticut College on both teams' spring break trips in Texas.
