Belles Take Down Barons in Florida

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - The Saint Mary's tennis team earned a strong 8-1 win over Franciscan after a weather-delayed start on Monday in Florida.
 
Lucy Chamberlin and Leah Hosang set the tone with an 8-0 win at two doubles for the Belles. Kathleen McLeod and Evelyn Demblans-Dechans captured an 8-2 decision at three doubles, and Alayna Campbell and Emma Kealy gave Saint Mary's a 3-0 lead with an 8-2 victory at one doubles.
 
Demblans-Dechans did not drop a game en route to a 6-0, 6-0 win at six singles. Chamberlin shouldered a tough 6-2, 6-0 setback at one singles, but Leah Hosang clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-1 decision at four singles. Kathleen McLeod had a gritty 6-1, 6-4 win at five singles. Emma Kealy battled all the way back from an early deficit as the freshman flipped the result in an 0-6, 6-0, 6-2 win at three singles. Alayna Campbell capped off the official results with a 6-2, 6-3 win at two singles for the Belles.
 
In exhibition play, Annika Smith and Hannah Gerner earned an 8-2 doubles victory while Ava Stengle and Katie Hunter won an 8-1 doubles match. Kalyn Borger took a pair of exhibition singles wins via 8-0 and 8-2 scores on the day.
 
The Belles (5-0) are back on the court tomorrow morning as they face off against Carthage at 9:00 a.m. EDT in Florida.
