Belles Fall to Thunder, Comets at MIAA Preview Tournament

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team (1-2) fell to Trine in a 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22) final and to Olivet in a 3-1 (20-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-19) match on day one of the MIAA Preview Tournament on Friday night.

Nicole Lukens led the Belles in the match against Trine with 18 kills and a match-high 28 digs. Lindsey Pelletier added 12 kills, and Audrey Shannon posted 26 digs. Morgan VanderWey tallied 43 assists and 16 digs for a double-double. Brittney Tarkanyi had 12 digs and two service aces.

Lukens went on to again lead the Belles with another double-double with 15 kills and 19 digs against Olivet. Pelletier had another double-digit kill effort with 10 kills. VanderWey registered 37 assists and nine digs while Nola Wallace put down eight kills. Alyssa Chong and Pelletier each added three blocks in the setback.

The Belles (1-2) are back inaction when they face off against No. 1 ranked Calvin and Alma on day two of the MIAA Preview Tournament at Calvin on Saturday.
