Belles Fall to Lions, Quakers

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team came up short in a pair of non-conference matches as the Belles fell 3-0 (25-21, 25-23-, 25-23) to Mount St. Joseph and 3-2 (25-17, 23-25, 25-18, 19-25, 15-5) to host Earlham on Friday.

Nicole Lukens paced Saint Mary's with her 18th double-double of the year by putting down 10 kills and picking up 10 digs. Lindsey Pelletier added eight kills and two blocks. Morgan VanderWey posted a double-double of her own with 26 assists and 12 digs. Audrey Shannon had a match-high 20 digs.

Against the host Quakers, Alyssa Chong had a team-high 15 kills while posting a .366 attack percentage. Lukens posted her 19th double-double with 12 kills and 24 digs, and Shannon led all players with 33 digs. Brittney Tarkanyi chipped in 11 digs, and VanderWey registered 37 assists and six digs.

The Belles (10-14) return to MIAA competition on Tuesday, October 16 when they travel to Hope for a 7:00 p.m. conference match.
