Belles Open Season at Manchester Hokum Karem

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Saint Mary's cross country team opened the 2022 campaign with a solid team effort on a hot evening at the Manchester Hokum Karem race.
 
The relay-style race saw two teammates pair up for a six-mile race in which each runner alternated with a mile back-and-forth until the duo completed the competition. There was no overall team score at the event.
 
The Saint Mary's tandem of Amanda Tracy and Isabelle Auch took a third place finish overall as the pair completed the relay in a time of 39:00.6. Tracy was the Belles' fastest harrier on the day as the junior ran mile times of 6:03.7, 6:20.6, and 6:28.3. Auch, meanwhile posted mile times of 6:29.9, 6:46.4, and 6:51.4, respectively. The pairing of Alexa Zeese and Anna DeMars just missed out on a top-five finish with a time of 39:33.8. Neither of the seniors had a mile time of slower than a 6:42.1, and Zeese posted a negative split time from her second mile to her third mile on the day while recording times all within four seconds of one another for each mile.
 
Brigid Hull and Julia Bobosky were the eighth pair to finish the race as the duo registered a 41:53.4 to edge out a pair from Huntington by six seconds. Hull ran each of her mile segments in 6:55.0 or faster while Bobosky posted a negative split of five seconds from her second mile time to her final mile. Mary Weber and Carly Davis took tenth place with a time of 43:02.1. Weber had negative splits throughout each leg of her race and ran her final stretch nine seconds faster than her opening mile. Julia Crowley and Abby Seaton were 13th overall with a time of 46:30.8 to round out the Saint Mary's efforts on the day. 
 
The Belles now shift their focus to the Calvin Knight Invitational on Saturday, September 10.
