Belles Wrap Up Season with Strong Performances at NCAA Regional

NORTON, Ohio - The Saint Mary's cross country team had a solid team performance and finished 16th at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional race on Saturday at Silver Creek Metro Park to conclude their season.
 
No. 18 ranked Calvin and No. 29 ranked DePauw tied with 90 points as Calvin captured the regional title with the tiebreaker protocol. No. 17 Hope placed third (113), host and No. 24 ranked John Carroll was fourth (119), and No. 35 Centre wrapped up the top five (194). The Belles placed 16th in the field of 40 teams with a team score of 508.
 
Meghan Owens from Centre was the individual winner with a time of 20:43.8 to edge a runner from Case Western by one-tenth of a second in a neck-and-neck result at the finish line.
 
Amanda Tracy was the first Belle across the finish line with a time of 22:29.0 as the senior took 61st place overall. Haley Greene beat out a pair of runners to take 87th overall while finishing with a new personal record time of 22:50.9 for her first sub-23 minute 6k of her career.
 
Cecilia Conrad placed 106th and had a personal record time by 42 seconds with a 23:17.4. Savannah Paulson also picked up another personal record time with a 23:28.6 and finished less than a second ahead of a pair of runners for 118th. Jordan Siminski broke below the 24-minute threshold for the first time in her career with a personal record by nearly 30 seconds after running a 23:41.3 and placing 136th.
 
Susanna Bernovich edged a runner from Kenyon for 170th with a time of 24:24.1. Isabelle Auch also held off a runner from Kenyon and turned in a personal record time by over 20 seconds with a 24:36.4 to place 174th.
 
The 16th place finish is the best team placement by the Belles since the 2015 season.
