
NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Soccer defeated Manchester University on Saturday, 2-0. The Belles improve to 4-3 while the Spartans fall to 0-5-2. The Belles are now 4-0 at home this year and have outscored their opponents 12-1.
The Belles took an early 1-0 lead in the first half off the foot of senior Mary Kaczynski at the 21:35 mark assisted by freshman Taylor London. The goal was Kaczynski's first of the season. The Belles outshot the Spartans 11-0 in the first half and 8-0 in shots on goal.
While Saint Mary's continued to dominate the second half, Manchester was able to keep up and keep the Belles out of the back of the net. Until London found an open seem after a beautiful long through ball from senior Grace Barresi at the 86:04 mark to make it the final, 2-0, scoreline.
The Belles outshot the Spartans 26-1 and 18-0 in shots on goal. Three Belles had four or more shots as Barresi led the team with eight, sophomore Margaret Slove followed Barresi with six shots and Kaczynski finished with four. Barresi also led the team in shots on goal with five while Slove had four.

Saint Mary's returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to take on Hiram College for a 7pm kickoff. The Belles return home on October 2 when they host Kalamazoo College for the conference opener, the match will also be the Belles Morgan's Message game to help raise awareness for the mental health of student-athletes.
