In an announcement to the Saint Mary's College community on March 11, Interim President Dr. Nancy P. Nekvasil stated that Saint Mary's is extending Spring Break through Friday, March 20.

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) announced on March 13 that all spring seasons of competition have been canceled effective Monday, March 16. As a member of the MIAA, Saint Mary's has also canceled all remaining athletically-related activities for the 2019-20 academic year.

The announcement comes shortly after the decision by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to cancel all remaining winter championships as well as spring championships made on March 12.
