FREELAND, Mich. - Sixty-six Saint Mary's student-athletes earned individual academic distinctions from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) for the 2019-20 academic year as that group of Belles garnered MIAA Honor Roll status.
The 66 Belles on the list represent a new school record for Saint Mary's student-athletes earning the conference academic honor in a year. The previous record of 62 was set at the conclusion of the 2016-17 academic year.
It is the sixth consecutive year Saint Mary's has had at least 50 student-athletes earn a spot on the conference's honor roll listing. In order to earn the MIAA Academic Honor Roll distinction, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.4^ cumulative grade point average for the entire academic year while earning a varsity letter in a conference-sponsored sport.
Four members of the Class of 2020 were four-year MIAA Academic Honor Roll honorees this year. Katie Glenn, Kellen Hinchey, Alyssa Gutierrez, and Kelsey Keilman joined an elite group of Saint Mary's student-athletes as the quartet garnered the academic accolade each year during their time competing for the Belles. Additionally,more than 50 percent of Saint Mary's student-athletes earned MIAA Academic Honor Roll accolades for the 2019-20 year.
