NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's Athletic Department announced that Volleyball freshman Kalli Lewkowski and Golf freshman Melanie Maier were named the first Athlete of the Week honors while Soccer sophomore Margaret Slove earned this week's honor.
Lewkowski played in all 14 sets during the Cedar Point Invitational in the opening weekend. She averaged a .311 hitting percentage for the tournament while tallying two matches above .400 and one match above .300. She averaged 3.1 points per set while stepping into a new role due to injuries. Lewkowski played a large part in the team opening the season with a three-match win streak and finishing the tournament with a 3-1 record.
Maier finished T15 in her first collegiate tournament at the Lynn Schweizer Invitational hosted by Denison University. She shot a 156 (+11) after going 78-78. She also carded three birdies in the final round to help move her up the leaderboard.
Slove helped lead the Belles to a 1-1 record last week, playing a key role in the win over Knox College in the home opener on Saturday. She was involved in all three of the Belles' goals, scoring two in the first half and assisting on the third early in the second half. In the two matches, she tallied 14 total shots with eight shots-on-goal.
