NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Softball freshman Gia Schiavone (Poland, OH) was named the Belles Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.

Schiavone would be a leader at the plate for the Belles, going 3 for 7 on the week. Schiavone would also knock in three runs while adding two runs of her own. She currently leads the team in runs scored this season, 14, while being tied for second on the team in hits, 21. Schiavone would also add a stolen base, bringing her into a tie for first on the team with six. She also currently is second on the team in batting average, .375.

Schiavone and the Belles continue their season as they visit Adrian College on Thursday, April 24, for a double header starting at 3pm. They then return home for their home finale on Saturday, April 26, as they host Calvin University for a double header starting at 12pm. The Belles will also celebrate Senior Day against the Knights.
