FREELAND, Mich. - The Saint Mary's softball team saw JoAnna Keilman and Mandi Hettinger pick up All-MIAA Second Team honors as voted on by the league coaches for the 2021 season.
JoAnna Keilman picked up all-conference honors after finishing the regular season conference schedule 14th in slugging percentage (.551), tied for 12th in hits (17), and tied for ninth in runs (12) all while batting .347 overall. The senior shortstop had at least one hit in 12 of the games under consideration for all-conference selections. Among those performances was a combined 5-for-6 effort in a doubleheader sweep of Kalamazoo. Defensively, Keilman recorded 27 putouts and 35 assists for the Belles. It is the first All-MIAA honor of her career.
Mandi Hettinger was selected as an all-conference honoree after finishing the conference regular season tied for 19th in RBI (9), 11th in batting average (.367), and tied for seventh in hits (18). The junior was tied for second in hits among players with fewer than 50 at-bats in 2021 in MIAA play. Having split time between pitching, outfield, first base, and the dp/op positions against conference foes, Hettinger made 14 appearances in the pitching circle with 11 starts and was second in total innings pitched in the MIAA regular season. She surrendered just five walks over the span of 54.2 innings on the mound. It is the first All-MIAA postseason honor of her career.
