Belles Projected to Finish Eighth in MIAA in First Year Under New Head Coach

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - Saint Mary's College Softball is projected to finish seventh in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association in a vote submitted by league coaches Tuesday.

The nine team MIAA will feature a schedule with each team playing each other in a double-header once for a 16 game conference schedule beginning on April 5. The conference season will conclude with the MIAA Softball Tournament, held May 7-9, this is the first year the tournament has been expanded to three days. The winner will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Softball Championship which begins with regional play on May 15.

Trine University was projected to top the league as the Thunder go for their fourth straight MIAA title, with 61 points and six of the nine first place votes. Calvin University sits right behind the Thunder with 58 points and the remaining three first place votes.

Following the Thunder and Knights are Adrian College, Hope College, Alma College, Kalamazoo College, Albion College, Saint Mary's, and the University of Olivet.

The Belles kick off their season in Kissimmee, Florida on March 9-14 as they tackle The Spring Games, playing 10 games across five different days. The Belles return to the midwest and travel to Aurora University on March 18 for a double-header before coming home and hosting North Park University for a double-header on March 29.

This is Saint Mary's first season under first-year Head Coach Jordyn Walter.
