NEWBERG, Ore. - Saint Mary's College STUNT split their opening games of the Pacific Northwest Open on Friday, defeating Sonoma State University, 10-2, and falling to Muskingum University, 7-4. The Belles move to 6-4 on the year.
Saint Mary's vs Sonoma State
After Saint Mary's took the first point of the match, the Belles and Seawolves would go into the first break tied at one. The Belles would then sweep the second quarter to go into halftime with a 3-1 lead. The teams would split the third quarter as Saint Mary's would take a 4-2 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Belles would come out and sweep the fourth quarter, taking all six points to earn a 10-2 victory.
Saint Mary's vs Muskingum
Muskingum would take an early 2-0 lead after sweeping the first quarter. Saint Mary's would cut the lead in half after taking a point in the second quarter, trailing 2-1 at halftime. But the Muskies would come out and take both points in the third quarter to extend their lead to 4-1 going into the final quarter. The Belles would take two of three points in the first round of the fourth before the Muskies would come out and take two points while the Belles would take one in the second round, to secure their match win, 7-4.
