NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Basketball fell to Kalamazoo College on Saturday afternoon, 83-73. The Belles fall to 4-17 (1-11 MIAA) while the Hornets improve to 8-13 (3-9 MIAA).

The Hornets took advantage of a hot start to end the first quarter, 21-10. Senior Julia Schutz (Dyer, Ind.) had 4 rebounds with junior Alyssa Matuza (Troy, Mich.) joining Schutz in the scoring column with threes.

The Belles attempted to gain their own momentum in the second quarter but fell short heading into the next twenty minutes trailing, 39-23. Sophomore Kate Restovich (Wildwood, Mo.) was able to use her 84.4% free throw percentage on the season to her advantage and go 8-9 from the line in the second to lead the Belles with 13 points at the break.

Saint Mary's battled back to come close, scoring 24 in the third quarter heading to the fourth down, 65-47. Kate Restovich clinched a season high 22 in the third quarter to keep the team alive.

Saint Mary's put up a battle in the fourth, out-scoring Kalamazoo 26-18. But with both teams committing numerous fouls late, and four players fouling out, Kalamazoo would keep their lead and take home the win.

Freshman Kate Passinault (Grand Rapids, Mich.) finished with 8 rebounds, her fifth time grabbing 8 or more rebounds on the season.
