
NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Basketball took down the University of Olivet on Wednesday night, 65-57. The Belles improve 5-17 (2-11 MIAA) while the Comets fall to 5-18 (2-12 MIAA).
Saint Mary's got out to a hot start in the first quarter as they would shoot 42% from the field and go into the break with a 20-12 lead. Senior Julia Schutz (Dyer, IN) led the Belles to an 11-2 run to open the game and would lead the team with eight points in the quarter.
The Belles continued to stay hot in the second quarter, again shooting 42% from the field and shooting 57% from three point. They would go into the halftime break with a 37-16 lead. Schutz would bring her point total to 17 on the game.
Saint Mary's would go cold from the field in the third quarter, but their defense stayed strong and were only outscored 11-8 in the quarter. The Belles would go into the final ten minutes of the game with a 45-27 lead.
Olivet would try to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter, but the Belles continued to shoot well from the field and hold onto their lead and end their eight-game losing streak.
Schutz would lead the team with 19 points, recording double-digit points in six of the last seven games. She would also grab a team high seven rebounds. Sophomore Kate Restovich (Wildwood, MO) would put up 12 points and a game high five assists. This was Restovich's eighth straight game in double-figures. Freshmen Ella Notaro (Crystal Lake, IL) and Kate Passinault (Grand Rapids, MI) would chip in seven points each off the bench.

Saint Mary's hits the road for their final road trip on Saturday as they travel to Alma College for a 1pm tipoff. The Belles return home for the final two games of the season as they host Albion College on February 19 at 7pm and Adrian College on February 22 at 1pm. The game against Adrian will also be Senior Day for the Belles.
