Erin chose Saint Mary's because of its small class sizes and strong accounting program as well as its ability to offer her a chance to continue playing basketball in college. A two-time team captain for the Belles and one of the program's all-time leaders in both assists and steals, Erin has made the most of her time both on and off the court.

"Saint Mary's holds its student-athletes to a high standard academically by making sure we, as students, are putting academics before athletics," said Erin. "Our professors and fellow classmates take interest in our seasons and frequently ask about game results and what it's like to play a collegiate sport."

The combination of succeeding in the College’s accounting program and the leadership skills she gained on the hardwood helped Erin get a game-changing internship last summer with the Big Four accounting firm Ernst & Young in Chicago. In that internship, she built her professional network, gained a better understanding of both the challenges and benefits of public accounting, and gave her first-hand experience of putting her education into practice.

That internship led to a job offer, and Erin will work for Ernst & Young as tax staff accountant after she finishes her degree. Until then, she continues to embrace her love of basketball and the traits that make the Saint Mary’s basketball team special.

"I love the fast-paced, competitive environment and the way the momentum of the game can change at any moment. Every person's role is vital to the team's success no matter who is on the court or the bench. Joining the Saint Mary's basketball program has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I love how team-oriented the program is, and my teammates have become my second family. Each of us have a passion for the game and refuse to give up or quit on each other. We work hard every day for our teammates and coaches, and we pick each other up when one of us falls."

Erin has combined her passion for her sport and her dedication to her professional pursuit of becoming an accountant to demonstrate she is ready for whatever her future holds. She has earned the Department of Business's PricewaterhouseCoopers Award for excellence in accounting leadership, is part of several clubs, and serves as the president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The combination of academics and Division III athletics at Saint Mary's is one that adds up to a promising future.

"While at Saint Mary's, I have discovered my abilities to be a leader, to stand up for what I believe, and how to grow in community with each other. These are all qualities I will take with me beyond Saint Mary's so that I can be successful in all aspects of my life."
