ALMA, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a course record 312 for the lowest Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) women's golf round posted in league play at Alma's Pine River Country Club.

 

The Belles' 312 was 22 strokes ahead of second-place Alma and Hope (334). Trine placed fourth with a 338. Additionally, the 312 by Saint Mary's was a six-stroke improvement upon the previous MIAA course record at Pine River. Hope shot a 318 in 2014 to establish the record previously.

 

Hunter Kehoe and Summer Stillson shared medalist honors by both shooting MIAA course-record rounds of 74. Kehoe had a round-best four birdies, was the round leader in scoring on par three holes, and tallied nine pars. Stillson, meanwhile, led the field in par five scoring, sunk three birdies, and shared round-high honors with 11 pars. The previous course record by an MIAA women's golfer was 76, which was set by four different players.

 

Sydney Hruskoci carded an 80 and placed sixth overall. The sophomore was one-over on par five holes in the round to go along with three birdies. Erin Bennett wrapped up the team score with an 84 while finishing tied for 17th. The freshman had eight pars and was one-over on par three holes. Maggie Sexton was the fifth player in the Belles' lineup and shot a 91 to tie for 36th. Sexton had seven pars on the day.

 

Hillary Ziemba competed as an individual and shot an 86 to tie for 21st. She tallied eight pars and was among the top 18 players in par four scoring in the round.

 

The Belles are back on the course next weekend when they compete in the Wisconsin-Whitewater Fall Invitational at Janesville Riverside Golf Course - Janesville, Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday.
