Belles Edge the Field for Fourth MIAA Jamboree Win

MARSHALL, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team held off the field for a three-stroke win at the fourth MIAA Jamboree of the fall, which was hosted by Olivet at the Medalist Golf Club.
 
The Belles turned in a team score of 329 to finish head of second place Hope (332) and third place Olivet (335). A three-way tie for round medalist was posted by Hope's Abby Meder and Grace VanDellen along with Olivet's Nicole Deweyert as the trio all shot matching scores of 80.
 
Hunter Kehoe and Summer Stillson led the way for Saint Mary's as the duo had rounds of 81 to share fourth place overall. Kehoe led the field in par four scoring on the day and had eight pars along with a birdie. Stillson shared round-best honors with two birdies and added eight pars while finishing second in par four scoring.
 
Sydney Hruskoci was a stroke behind her teammates with an 82 while finishing tied for seventh. The sophomore had a birdie and a team-high 10 pars on the day. Hannah Finley rounded out the team score with an 85 for a share of 13th place. Finley posted nine pars and was tied for third for the best par five scoring over the 18 holes of play. Erin Bennett was the fifth golfer in the Belles lineup and shot a 91 while tying for 32nd. The freshman was two-over par on par three holes on Thursday.
 
Katherine Hopkins competed as an individual and shot an 86 to tie for 19th place. Hopkins tallied eight pars and was also two-over par on par three holes on the day.
 
The Belles will have a week to prepare for the MIAA End of Season Weekend Jamboree - a 36-hole, two-day event next Friday and Saturday. Play begins at 1:00 p.m. on October 11 at Bedford Valley Golf Club in Battle Creek, Michigan.
