FREELAND, Mich. - Junior Erin Bennett was named as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Golf Athlete of the Week on Monday, April 11.

A native of Martinsville, Indiana (Martinsville), Bennett led the Belles to a seventh place finish at the Illinois Wesleyan Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling over the weekend. She turned in a 77 on Saturday with 11 pars and a birdie. The junior then shot an 84 on a windy day-two of the event to finish tied for 15th overall in a field of more than 90 players. She tied for the best par three scoring of the tournament after going even over 36 holes of play on short holes. Bennett added nine pars and finished the tournament with 20 total pars, good for a share of the third-highest number of pars.

It is the first MIAA Golf Athlete of the Week honor of her career.
