KENOSHA, Wis. - The Saint Mary's golf team posted a 335 and are tied for fourth after day one of the Carthage College Battle on the Border.
Host Carthage leads the field after a blistering 298 on day one of the two-day event at Bristol Oaks Country Club. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater holds second place with a 326 as 13 strokes separate the next five teams in the field. Calvin posted a 330 for third place after 18 holes of competition, and the Belles are tied with the B squad from Cartage in fourth. Carthage's Adrienne Rohwedder shot a 68 to lead all players in the field.
Erin Bennett paced the Belles in the first round of the fall season as the junior shot an 81. Sydney Hruskoci carded an 83, and Katelyn Tokarz tallied an 84 in her first collegiate round of golf. Haley Angel and Katherine Hopkins posted matching scores of 87 as the fourth and fifth golfers in the scoring lineup for Saint Mary's. Joanna James is competing as an individual at the event for the Belles and carded an 81 in her first collegiate competition to lead all individuals.
Day two of the Battle on the Border begins on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. CDT.
