GRANVILLE, Ohio - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a 324 on the opening day of the season at the Denison University Lynn Schweizer Invitational. Four teams were unable to complete the round on day one due to weather delays and darkness.

Amanda Melling led the scoring efforts for the Belles in her first collegiate round by shooting an 80. The freshman circled birdies on par five No. 12 and par three No. 14 as she went one-over (38) on the back nine. Julia Lizak and Katherine Hopkins each shot rounds of 81. Lizak had a birdie on par five No. 12 and did not have a score above a bogey in her first collegiate round of competition. Hopkins collected a birdie on par five No. 6 before capping off her round with a birdie on par four No. 18.  Breana Harrington and Erin Bennett added rounds of 82 to cap off the scoring lineup efforts. Harrington played even-par golf through her first six holes and added a birdie on par five No. 10 after making the turn in her collegiate debut. Bennett posted pars on her opening five holes and closed the round with three pars on her way to the 82.

The depth of the Belles' lineup was on display in the opening round of the year as Katelyn Tokarz and Haley Angel both turned in strong rounds as individuals. Tokarz shot a collegiate career-low 77 with a team-best 13 pars with no score above a bogey. Angel was one-under through four holes after posting a birdie on par four No. 2.
