Belles in Fourth at Franklin Spring Invite

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a 336 and is in fourth place heading into day two of the Franklin Spring Invitational.
 
No. 15 Illinois Wesleyan leads the field after a 305 on Saturday in cold and windy conditions. Augustana holds second place after a 318, and Wittenberg is third with a 332. 
 
Illinois Wesleyan's Jacque O'Neill shot a one-over par 73 on Saturday to lead all players individually.
 
Erin Bennett led the Belles with an 82  and is tied for 11th overall after going 42-40. The senior shared team-best honors with a six-over effort on the front nine and did not have a score above a bogey. Bennett posted eight pars in the round, which tied her for eighth. 
 
Julia Lizak shot an 84 (42-42) and is 19th overall heading into Sunday's round. Lizak circled birdies on par five No. 3 and par four No. 14, which was tied for the sixth-best birdie total.
 
Katelyn Tokarz turned in an 85 and holds a share of 20th going into day two. Tokarz had a birdie on par five No. 11 and added seven pars. Her one-over effort on par three holes tied her for third in the round.
 
Isa Patacsil also shot an 85 and is tied for 20th. She had a birdie on par four No. 10 and posted seven pars. The senior went two-over on par five holes and is among the tournament leaders in par five scoring. 
 
Katherine Hopkins shot an 86 and is tied for 27th prior to Sunday's round. The senior posted the second recorded hole-in-one in program history with an eagle on par three No. 12. She added a birdie on par four No. 8 and tallied three pars. 
 
Joanna James, Haley Angel, and Nani Patacsil are all competing as individuals. James shot an 85 and is tied for 20th. She had nine pars to tie for the fifth-highest number of pars and did not shoot above a double bogey on the back nine. Angel shot an 86 and is tied for 27th as she collected eight pars on the day. Nani Patacsil shot a 95 and is 45th going into Sunday's round. She had five pars in her round on Saturday.
 
Day two of the Franklin Spring Invitational is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday at the Legends Golf Club. The first Saint Mary's pairing tees off at 11:45 a.m.
