Belles Place Second at Opening Day of MIAA Fall Final

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a 332 and placed second at the opening day of the 36-hole MIAA Fall Final on Friday.
 
Adrian placed first with a score of 323 and holds the overall lead going into the final day of conference competition in the fall. The Belles were second with the team score of 332. Calvin placed third (335) while Alma placed fourth (339). Adrian's Olivia Ohmer had the low round of the day with a 73.
 
Erin Bennett paced the Belles with a 79. The senior co-captain tied for second overall on the day. Bennett had a birdie on par five No. 4 and finished the round with ten pars. Her ten pars was good enough to tie for the second-most of the day.
 
Julia Lizak shot an 83 and tied for ninth on Friday. The freshman circled birdies on par five No. 7 and par five No. 16 to tie for the third-most birdies. Lizak added six pars in the round and her one-over scoring on par five holes was tied for the fourth-best scoring average on Friday.
 
Katelyn Tokarz and Katherine Hopkins each turned in rounds of 85 and each held a share of 16th. Tokarz had a birdie on par four No. 15, tallied six pars on the front nine, and was two-over on par three holes. Hopkins, meanwhile, collected seven pars on the day to tie for 14th. 
 
Haley Angel carded an 87 to tie for 24th. The junior had eight consecutive pars on the front nine and added a par on the back nine. Her nine total pars tied her for the fourth-most pars in the round.
 
Georgie Kersman is playing as an individual and shot a 90 to tie for 33rd.
 
Day two of the MIAA Fall Final is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Bedford Valley Golf Club.
