Belles in Seventh After Day One at Kyle Campbell Memorial Invitational

MARSHALL, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a 341 and are in seventh place after 18 holes of play at the Medalist Golf Club for the 2022 Olivet College Kyle Campbell Memorial Invitational.
 
Bethel University holds the top team spot with a 318 on day one. Ohio Northern shot a 327 for second, and Westminster (Pa.) had a 332 for third after one round. Bethel's Maria Pardo Victori had the low individual score through the first 18 holes of play with a 74.
 
Erin Bennett paced the team scoring efforts with an 82 and holds a share of 11th. The senior co-captain was even on par five holes on the day and had eight pars. Breana Harrington shot an 84 and is tied for 18th. Harrington had a team-best two birdies and was one-over on par five holes.
 
Amanda Melling carded an 86 and is tied for 26th heading into Saturday's round. Melling was in the top 20 in the field in par four scoring and had a team-high nine pars. Katelyn Tokarz turned in an 89 to wrap up the team score while holding a share of 40th. Katherine Hopkins was the fifth golfer in the Belles' lineup and shot a 92 and is tied for 50th.
 
Julia Lizak is competing as an individual and shot an 84 on day one to hold a share of 18th. The freshman tied for the best par three scoring of the round with an even-par effort on short holes. 
 
Round two of the Kyle Campbell Memorial Invitational is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Medalist Golf Club.
