Belles Win MIAA Jamboree Hosted by Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a 311 to take first place at the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Kalamazoo at Milham Park Golf Club.
 
The Belles finished nine strokes ahead of second place Adrian (320) and 19 strokes ahead of third place Albion (330). Adrian's Olivia Ohmer was the round medalist with a 74.
 
Haley Angel led the Belles and finished tied for second with a collegiate career-low round of 75 (37-38). The senior circled birdies on par four No. 18 and par five No. 1. Angel added 12 pars, which included a stretch of six in-a-row from No. 6 through No. 11 with an up-and-down on No. 7. 
 
Joanna James and Amanda Melling tied for fourth with scores of 78. James went 39-39 with birdies on par five No. 1 and par four No. 6. James had eight pars on the day and did not have a score above a bogey. Melling (41-37) had birdies on par five No. 1, par four No. 7, par four No. 15, and par three No. 16 while posting four pars. 
 
Georgie Kersman turned in an 80 and finished eighth overall. The junior had a birdie on par three No. 4 and carded nine pars. Julia Lizak was the fifth golfer in the Belles lineup and shot an 82 to tie for 13th. Lizak tallied nine pars in the round, which included five consecutive pars from No. 15 through No. 1.
 
Colleen Hand competed as an individual and shot an 83 to tie for 15th. The freshman circled a birdie on par three No. 4 and collected nine pars on the day.
 
The Belles will conclude the fall season on Thursday, October 5 at the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Trine at Zollner Golf Course, which begins at 1:00 p.m.
