Belles Take Second at Day One of MIAA Spring Finale

AUGUSTA, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a 332 to place second at day one of the MIAA Spring Finale on Monday.
 
Adrian took the top spot in the round with a 327. The Belles were five strokes back (332) while Hope rounded out the top three with a 334. Calvin was a stroke back for fourth with a 335. Trine's Grace Dubec was the individual leader in the clubhouse after shooting a three-over par 75.
 
The Belles as a team led the field in par five scoring and were second in par three scoring in the round. Additionally, the team's 36 total pars was good enough for the second-highest total on Monday.

Julia Lizak led the way for Saint Mary's with an 81 to finish seventh among all players. She posted nine pars - including five consecutive pars on the front nine - with a birdie on par four No. 1 to mark the only birdie on the hole in the round. Lizak was tied for the third-best par four scoring (4.40) and was tied for the third-most pars.

Haley Angel was a stroke behind Lizak with an 82 and finished eighth in the field. Angel did not tally a score above a bogey and had eight pars in the round. She was tied for the eighth-most pars in the round and was one-over on par five holes.
 
Amanda Melling turned in an 84 to hold a share of 12th. She had seven pars on the day for the Belles. Melling was tied for the seventh-best par four scoring on Monday.
 
Katelyn Tokarz shot an 85 to wrap up the team score while tying for 15th. She had eight total pars in her round on Monday. Tokarz finished one-over on par three holes, which was tied for the second-best scoring average in the round on par threes.
 
Colleen Hand posted an 89 and tied for 30th. She had a birdie on par four No. 4 before ending her round with a birdie on par three No. 11 - the lone birdie on the hole during the round - while adding four pars. She was two-over on par three holes and one-over on par fives.
 
Georgie Kersman is competing as an individual and shot an 87 to tie for 23rd. She had a birdie on par five No. 10 to go along with four pars in the round. The junior was even on par five holes on Monday.
 
The team with the lowest cumulative score over all of the MIAA rounds of play from the fall and spring combined will receive the conference's automatic qualifier to the 2024 NCAA Championships in May. Saint Mary's holds a cumulative stroke total of 1,613 through five rounds of play going into Tuesday's round. Adrian has a stroke total of 1,622 while Calvin holds a 1,668 cumulative total.
 
Day two of the MIAA Spring Finale is scheduled to tee off at 10:00 a.m. at Gull Lake View West Course.
