Belles Win Trine Spring Classic

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a 331 to edge fellow MIAA member Hope by one stroke and claim first place at the Trine Spring Classic on Friday.
 
In a field featuring 13 unique schools, Saint Mary's posted a 331 while Hope claimed second (332) with IU-East in third (334). Hope's Allyson Zuidema was the tournament medalist with a three-over 75.
 
Haley Angel led the team scoring efforts for the Belles with an 81 and tied for eighth place overall. Katelyn Tokarz was a stroke back with an 82 and tied for 12th. Julia Lizak added an 83 and held a share of 14th place. Amanda Melling rounded out the team score with an 85 to tie for 24th. Breana Harrington was the fifth player in the Belles' lineup and shot a 95 and tied for 64th.
 
Joanna James, Georgie Kersman, and Colleen Hand all competed as individuals at the tournament. James posted an 80 to place seventh overall in the field of 95 golfers. Kersman shot an 81 and tied for eighth. Hand turned in an 83 and held a share of 14th.
 
The Belles are back in action on April 5-6 at the Bluffton/Ohio Northern Spring Invite. Day one of the tournament tees off at 9:30 a.m. at Colonial Golfers Club in Harrod, Ohio.
