Belles Open Season with 10th Place Finish

GRANVILLE, Ohio - Saint Mary's College Golf finished their first tournament of the fall with a 10th place finish at the Lynn Schweizer Invitational in Granville, Ohio.

The Belles finished the tournament with a team score of 660 (+80) after shooting 330-330 on the two day tournament.

Freshman Melanie Maier led the way for Saint Mary's as she finished T15 after shooting a 156 (+11) and going 78-78. She carded three birdies on Sunday. Junior Julia Lizak followed Maier, finishing T27 after shooting a 159 (+14) and going 78-81 on the weekend. Lizak would lead the Belles with four birdies on the two-day tournament.

Senior Katelyn Tokarz followed the two leads with a T54 finish after shooting a 171 (+26) and going 87-84 while birdieing the 5th Hole Par 4 on Sunday. Junior Breana Harrington wasn't far behind Tokarz as she finished 59th after shooting a174 (+29) and going 87-87 after making three birdies during round one. Sophomore Colleen Hand rounded out the competitors for the Belles as she finished 62nd after shooting a 178 (+33) and going 90-88 while carding three birdies on the tournament.

Saint Mary's returns to the course on September 12 when they head north to compete in the first MIAA Jamboree of the year hosted by Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
