FREELAND, Mich. - Erin Doyle and Emily Kraker garnered two of the highest accolades as a program-record six Saint Mary's lacrosse student-athletes earned All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) honors for the 2019 season.

 

Erin Doyle was named as the league's Offensive Most Valuable Player while classmate Emily Kraker was tabbed as the conference's Defensive Most Valuable Player. The pair were joined on the First Team All-MIAA list by Kate Kelly, Rachael Leonard, and Kendra Osinski. Bridget Kane was named to the Second Team.

 

Doyle, a sophomore midfielder from Niskayuna, New York, led the MIAA in goals (48) and points (58) in 2019. She was tied for seventh in league games in assists (10) and ground balls (29). Doyle scored at least three goals in each of the team's eight conference games this spring. Her 53.9 shot percentage was the highest among players who took at least 40 shots (five shots per game average) during the conference season. The 2018 MIAA Rookie of the Year, it is her second First Team All-MIAA selection of her career.

 

Kraker, a sophomore goalie from Westerville, Ohio, had the highest save percentage among conference goalies who played at least 240 minutes in MIAA contests in 2019 with a 57.5 save percentage. Additionally, she led the league in goals-against average with 6.00 this spring en route to posting an 8-0 record in the cage. She made 65 saves during the year and earned MIAA Defensive Player of the Week recognition earlier this month. It is the first All-MIAA postseason recognition of her career.

 

Kelly, a senior co-captain and midfielder from Orland Park, Illinois, led all players in the conference in draw controls (62) in 2019. She was tied for second in assists (15), third in points (42), and fourth in goals (27), caused turnovers (20), and ground balls (34) this spring. She had the second-highest shot percentage among players with at least 40 shots this season with a 52.9. She was named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week one time each this year. It is her fourth All-MIAA selection as she was a First Team honoree in both 2016 and 2018 while being a Second Team honoree in 2017.

 

Leonard, a senior co-captain and defender from Hendersonville, Tennessee, led all field players regardless of position in ground balls (38) this spring. Leonard collected at least three ground balls and at least one caused turnover in seven of eight conference games. She finished the year tied for the second-highest total of caused turnovers in conference play among league defenders in 2019 with 21. A two-time First Team honoree, she becomes just the second defender in league history to earn First Team accolades in three consecutive seasons.

 

Osinski, a junior attacker from Orange, Connecticut, was tied for 11th among all players in the conference in both goals with 19 and total points with 27. She had the fifth-highest shot percentage (47.5) of the season among players with at least 40 shots during the spring. She tallied at least one goal in each of the team's eight conference games as she registered a 75.0 shot on goal percentage. A Second Team honoree last spring, it is the first time she has been selected for the First Team.

 

Kane, a freshman midfielder from Binghamton, New York, was tied for 13th in total points (26) and tied for 15th in total goals (18) among all players in the conference during her rookie season. Kane tied for fourth in total draw controls (37) during the spring. She scored at least one goal and had at least one draw control in each of the eight conference games for the Belles. Additionally, she had multiple points in every MIAA contest for Saint Mary's in her first season. Her Second Team All-MIAA selection is the first of her career.

 

The six honorees for the Belles in 2019 surpasses last year's total of four all-league honorees as the most for the program. Saint Mary's posted an 8-0 record in MIAA play and won their first-ever regular season championship. Erin Doyle becomes the second player in program history to garner MIAA Offensive Player of the Year accolades while Emily Kraker is the first player for the Saint Mary's lacrosse team to be tabbed as the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year.
