NCAA Women's Lacrosse Regional Information

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's lacrosse team makes its inaugural appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament on Sunday, May 9 with a 12:30 p.m. second round contest against Denison University.

The Belles qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship after defeating Hope by a 14-13 score in the MIAA Tournament Championship at the Purcell Athletic Fields last Saturday. MIAA Offensive Player of the Year Erin Doyle led all players with six goals while All-MIAA Second Team honoree Gabby Belsito notched a career-high five goals to help pace the offense. MIAA Defensive Player of the Year Emily Kraker made eight saves - including two saves on free position opportunities in the final five minutes - to preserve the one-goal win.

Denison, meanwhile, is making its 22nd NCAA Division III Championship appearance after winning a 14-13 North Coast Athletic Conference championship contest against the College of Wooster last Saturday. Wooster tied the game at 13-13 with 29 seconds only to see a caused turnover yiled a fastbreak goal as time expired to lift the Big Red to the one-goal victory. Big Red goalie Caroline O'Dea had nine saves in the championship and was named the NCAC Tournament Most Valuable Player. Molly Fischer led Denison with four goals in the contest.
