Day, Kaczynski Named to Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Saint Mary's senior Kaitlyn Day and junior Mary Kaczynski were named to the 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team as announced by the College Sports Communicators.
 
A business administration major with a concentration in marketing from Erie, Colorado, Day holds a cumulative grade point average above the requisite 3.5 while being a regular contributor on the field in the 2023 season. Day made 15 starts and played in all 17 games of the season this fall. She scored the game-winning goal at Lake Forest and sealed the team's conference victory at home over Alma on Senior Day. She finished tied for fifth on the team in shots taken and had the second-best shots on-goal percentage among Belles with at least 10 shots on goal during the year.

A nursing major from South Bend, Indiana, Kaczysnki also boasts a cumulative grade point average above the requisite 3.5 and played a key role for the Belles this season. She made 12 starts and competed in 16 games of the year in 2023. Kaczynski was third on the team in points (7) and goals (3). She had goals in wins over Franklin, Hiram, and Olivet while assisting the game-winning goal at Franklin.
 
The pair are two of 29 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's soccer players to be honored for the 2023 season. It is the first Academic All-District® honor for Day and is the second such accolade of Kaczynski's career.
 
According to the College Sports Communicators (CSC), the award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
