Kreydich’s Brace Powers Belles Past Terriers

HIRAM, Ohio - Saint Mary's College Soccer defeated Hiram College on Wednesday night,3-1, in the final non-conference match of the season. The Belles improve to 5-3 on the year while the Terriers fall to 2-6.

Saint Mary's took an early lead thanks to freshman Isabella Kreydich. Kreydich would find the back of the net at the 21:58 mark for her first collegiate goal. But she wouldn't stop there, just four minutes later, Kreydich would slot the ball past the keeper to give herself a brace and give the Belles a 2-0 lead going into the break.

Hiram would cut the lead in half with a goal from Bella Simmons at the 51:23 mark. But Saint Mary's never slowed the offense down as they extended their lead to the 3-1 final scoreline at the 75:31 mark thanks to senior Mary Kaczynski. This was the second straight match with a goal for Kaczynski.

The Belles outshot the Terriers 20-9 and 11-4 in shots on goal. This was the fifth time this season that the belles recorded 20 or more shots and the third time scoring three or more goals. Kreydich led the team with five shots, four on target, while sophomore Margaret Slove recorded four and Kaczynski recorded three. Senior goalkeeper Riley Lindsey recorded three saves while facing nine shots in her return to the lineup.

Saint Mary's returns home on October 2 to host Kalamazoo College for a 5pm kickoff to open MIAA play. The match with the Hornets will also be the Belles annual Morgan's Message match to help raise awareness for the mental health for student-athletes.
