TEMPE, Ariz. - Six student-athletes and the entire Saint Mary's tennis team were recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as Scholar-Athletes and a 2018 ITA All-Academic Team for the past academic year.

Nicole Becker, Megan Davy, Monica Davy, Kelsey Kopf, Maddie Minaudo, and Elizabeth Preister were among the 4,328 men's and women's student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III; NAIA; and Junior College programs to garner ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for 2017-18. A student-athlete must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.

The tennis team was collectively honored as an ITA All-Academic Team for their efforts in the classroom during the 2017-18 year. The award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above on a 4.00 scale. Additionally, all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year, including both fall 2017 and spring 2018. The Saint Mary's tennis team posted a 3.61 cumulative grade point average in 2017-18.

"This 2017-18 Saint Mary's tennis team was an incredible group of dedicated individuals," said head coach Dale Campbell. "They were very organized and focused in their approach to everything. They did a great job of striving for excellence in the classroom as well as on the tennis court. They represented the true essence of Division III student-athletes in their dedication to their academics and sport. Their commitment to community service also exemplified their unselfishness while representing Saint Mary's with integrity and class."

Saint Mary's joins MIAA members Adrian, Calvin, Kalamazoo, and Olivet as 2018 ITA All-Academic Teams.
