FREELAND, Mich. - Saint Mary's freshman tennis player Meredith Heckert has been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her performance last week for the Belles.
A native of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, she posted a 4-0 combined doubles and singles record last Friday as the Belles defeated Judson and Rose-Hulman to conclude their fall season. Each of her singles wins were the clinching victories for the Belles against their opponents as she claimed straight-set decisions at the four singles flight. Her comeback-win with two doubles partner Lilly Chamberlin earlier in the match against Rose-Hulman was also instrumental to the Belles' win over the Fightin' Engineers.
It is the first MIAA Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor of her career.
