GREENWOOD, Ind. - Saint Mary's senior Elizabeth Preister was one of only ten student-athletes from District 7 (Illinois, Indiana, Ohio) to earn First Team Google Cloud Academic All-District® honors for the 2018-19 academic year by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

 

A native of Columbus, Nebraska, Preister is one of the Class of 2019's valedictorians after boasting a cumulative grade point average of 4.00 over the past four years. She has been named to the Dean's List every semester and will soon be a four-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll honoree. On the tennis court, she is on a short list of players over the past ten years to have collected more than 50 wins in singles play for the Belles. She has a 59-13 singles record for her career as she won more than 80 percent of the time she stepped onto the court for singles play.

 

Preister is the first student-athlete for Saint Mary's to earn Google Cloud Academic All-District® for the At-Large Team. The Women's At-Large Team nominations are open to student-athletes who have competed in beach volleyball, bowling, crew/rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, and/or water polo.

 

She will now be in the running for Google Cloud Academic All-America® for the At-Large Team. A separate vote for the award, and those honorees will be announced in June. 

 

A student-athlete's performances both in the classroom and in the competitive arena are taken into account for consideration for the honor. To be eligible for Academic All-District® and Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 (on 4.00 scale), have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
