FREELAND, Mich. - Saint Mary's freshman tennis player Alyssa Gulli was selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her performance over the weekend.

 

A native of Warrenville, Illinois, she amassed a 4-0 record in two matches as the Belles split decisions against Spring Arbor and Aquinas. She and doubles partner Elizabeth Preister picked up an 8-1 win at three doubles versus Spring Arbor before Gulli won a 6-0, 6-0 match at five singles. In the evening match of the day, Gulli and Preister battled to an 8-6 doubles victory as the first completed flight of the event. She then went on to fight back from an early deficit to take a 1-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-7) singles win against Aquinas.

 

It is the first MIAA Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor of her career.
