ALMA, Mich. - The Saint Mary's tennis team earned a 9-0 win over Alma to open their conference slate of competition on Sunday afternoon.

 

Kathleen McLeod and Evelyn Demblans-Dechans set the tone with an 8-0 win at three doubles. Alayna Campbell and Emma Kealy took an 8-4 decision at one doubles. Lucy Chamberlin and Leah Hosang outlasted their opponents in an 8-6 two doubles win to give the Belles the 3-0 lead.

 

An injury retirement gave Emma Kealy a 4-3 win at four singles. Leah Hosang clinched the win with a 6-0, 6-0 final at four singles. Alayna Campbell garnered a 6-2, 6-0 victory at two singles for the Belles, and Lucy Chamberlin prevailed 6-3, 6-3 at one singles. Kathleen McLeod won a 6-2, 6-1 match at five singles, and Evelyn Demblans-Dechans closed out the team results with a 6-0, 6-1 win at six singles. 

 

A trio of Belles took exhibition singles. Annika Smith was a 6-1 winner, Ava Stengle took a 6-3 decision, and Katie Hunter had a 6-4 win to close out the day.

 

The Belles (9-0, 1-0 MIAA) are set to host Anderson on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
