HUDSONVILLE, Mich. - Saint Mary's sophomore tennis player Evelyn Demblans-Dechans was named as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week on Monday, September 11.

 

A native of Missoula, Montana, she won three of four matches over the weekend as the Belles opened the season. She helped set the tone early in a tight 5-4 team win over Franciscan with an 8-4 doubles victory before taking a 6-2, 6-4 singles decision. The next day, she and doubles partner Anna Gardner had a comeback 8-5 win doubles victory against Ohio Northern.

 

It is the first MIAA Athlete of the Week honor of her career.
