Belles Fall in Fall Finale to Lancers

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Tennis fell to Grace College on Monday night, 4-3, in their annual Morgan's Message match. The Belles fall to 1-1 this year while the Lancers improved to 8-3.
Doubles

Saint Mary's came out strong in doubles as junior Evelyn Demblans-Dechans and sophomore Anna Gardner took the win in the number three doubles, 6-1. While Grace would bounce back and take the number two doubles win, the Belles would take the doubles point as senior Alayna Campbell and junior Emma Kealy were victorious in the one singles, 6-3.

Singles

The Lancers came out hot in singles play as they would take the numbers one, two, and three matches to take a quick 3-1 lead. The Belles started to mount a comeback as Gardner was victorious in the number four singles, 6-2 6-2, and Demblans-Dechans took the win in the number six singles, 6-4 3-6 10-2. But it was Grace that came out victorious in the number five match to claim the match victory.

This was the final fall match for Saint Mary's, the team will return to action on February 8 when they host Huntington University and Hanover College.
