Belles Dominate Saturday Slate to Continue Strong Spring Open

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Tennis defeated Anderson University, 7-0, and the University of Saint Francis, 7-0, on Saturday. The Belles improve to 4-1 on the year while the Ravens fall to 2-3 and the Cougars fall to 1-12.

Doubles

The Belles dominated competition from the jump, taking all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point. Senior Alayna Campbell (Granger, IN) and junior Emma Kealy (Hudson, OH) took the number one doubles, 6-1. Sophomore Sophia Pischalko (Granger, IN) and freshman Shannon Dudy (Glenview, IL) would take the number two doubles, 6-1, while junior Hannah Gerner (Crown Point, IN) and freshman Odessa Norton (Carmel, IN) would take the number three doubles, 6-1.

Singles

Saint Mary's continued to dominate in singles play, taking all six matches. Kealy would win the number one singles, 6-0 6-4, while Campbell would win the number two singles match in a forfeit. Sophomore Anna Gardner (Houston, TX) would win the number three singles in a sweep, 6-0 6-0, while Dudy would take the number four singles, 6-1 6-1. Pischalko would take home the number five singles, 6-1 6-0, while freshman Lanie Brant (Stevensville, MI) would take the number six singles, 6-3 6-0.

Doubles

The Belles would continue to dominate against the Cougars as they would take all doubles matches, including a forfeit in the number three spot. Campbell and Kealy would take the number one doubles for the second time on the day, 6-2, while Pischalko and Dudy would take the number two doubles match for the second time today, 6-1, to take the doubles point.

Singles

Saint Mary's continued their hot stretch on the day as they would take all of the singles points, including a forfeit in the number six singles. Campbell would take the number one singles, 6-0 6-1, while Kealy would take the number two singles, 6-1 6-0. Dudy would take the win in the number three singles, 6-1 6-0, while Brant would take the number four singles handly, 6-0 6-0. Gerner would finish off the scoring for the Belles, taking the number five singles, 6-0 6-1.

UP NEXT FOR THE BELLES

Saint Mary's will head up to St. Joe, MI to take on Spring Arbor University and Goshen College on February 21. Those matches will start at 12:30 pm and 6:30 pm respectively.
