RACINE, Wis. - Saint Mary's College Tennis defeated Carthage College on Friday night, 5-2. The Belles improve to 8-3 while the Firebirds fall to 8-5.
Doubles
Saint Mary's would quickly come out and take the first two doubles matches of the night to secure the doubles point. Senior Alayna Campbell (Granger, IN) and junior Emma Kealy (Hudson, OH) would take the win handley at number one, 6-1, while sophomore Anna Gardner (Houston, TX) and freshman Lanie Brant (Stevensville, MI) would take number three, 6-3. Carthage would come out and take the number two match to finish doubles.
Singles
Campbell would start singles play with a win at number two, taking care of her opponent easily, 6-1 6-4. The Firebirds would tie the match up at two with wins at the number one and five matches before Brant would earn a victory at the number six match, 6-3 6-3, to take the lead back. The Belles wouldn't look back as Gardner would clinch the win with a victory at number three, 7-5 6-2. Sophomore Shannon Dudy (Glenview, IL) would finish the match with a win at number four, 6-4 6-4.

Saint Mary's takes on North Park University tomorrow afternoon at the South Shore Health and Racquet Club in St. Joe, MI with the match starting at 1pm. The Belles then return to MIAA play as they host Trine University on March 29 and Adrian College on April 2.
